The Maharashtra board and its textbooks are run from Pune
Maharashtra’s Class 10 SSC examination is conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, whose head office is in Shivajinagar, Pune. Its Pune Divisional Board covers Pune, Ahilyanagar and Solapur districts.
State Board textbooks come from the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research, known as Balbharati, whose main office is also in Pune. For a family on the Maharashtra State Board, these are the two bodies behind the syllabus a child studies and the exam they sit in Class 10.
When heavy rain closes Pune’s schools
On Monday 6 July 2026, after the India Meteorological Department issued a red alert, the Pune district administration declared a holiday for all schools in the district. In July 2024, the Collector closed schools and colleges in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and several talukas for the same reason.
An online lesson needs no journey, so a closure day need not mean a missed lesson, provided the power and internet connection at home are working. eGunas lessons are arranged separately from school timetables.
Checking the fit before you book
eGunas State Board courses cover Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, but the catalogue does not name which state boards they follow. If your child studies under the Maharashtra State Board, ask at the free demo class whether the lessons match the Balbharati textbooks used at school.
Marathi is a compulsory school subject in Maharashtra for schools of every board, and eGunas does not teach it. The Mumbai guide sets out that rule.
